TNF Torrance celebrates our 25th Anniversary!

June 6th marked our last day of the TNF school year of 2014-2015! This day was jam packed with so many festivities to celebrate TNF reaching such a great milestone of our 25th year of spreading love about Mary and becoming a prosperous family we are today.

We began with TBDT in the early morning and were delighted to see many more faces from other Doans. After collecting our star stickers for our "Passports to God," we had mass with Cha Long. After mass we prayed the Rosary and this time we dedicated our meditation after to free our minds and think recollect and unplug from our busy past week. We began games such as the ultimate tournament of "rock, paper, scissors" and a fun game of poison ball. Before lunch, we sat around one another and passed around a beach ball covered in multiple questions such as "to get to know each other better. Through this game we were able to learn more about each others interests and become a lot closer. After lunch, we gave our special goodbyes and began to set up our booths for tro  choi lon.

This special theme if tro choi lon was in spirit of the upcoming summer break where we had booths led by HT's and Nghia as our end of the year "Summer festival." Our booths were adorned with colorful signs as many children had the luxury to spend time within each of these booths. For the "Trivia Treats" booth our members had to answer trivia question to test their knowledge they learned throughout the year in order to win a snow cone or cotton candy! In the booth "What's in season?" players had to guess what flavor a certain juice was in order to gain the prize of candy. The next booth tested the player's memorization skills where in "Summer memories," children had to try to memorize a photo for a short amount of time before drawing out the most they could remember.   "Lets get crafty" booth was a fun way in order for members to create leis out of boba straws, string, and colorful flower paper. "The ping to my pong" was an intense booth in order for players to shoot water through water guns to knock off ping pong balls off of water bottles. Last, but not the least in our  "Hula Hoop contest" players had to compete to hula hoop the longest to win candy.

After a long day of joyous fun, we ended the night with a grand performances after mass. We performed "Dancing through the Decades" where we danced in the theme of era between 1900's and till present day. Our dancers looked absolutely wonderful dressed in their costumes to match the era and watching across the sea of smiles, truly showed how much of a joy it is to dance with one another. Thank you all who came out to devote your time to a memorable day.

TBDT At El Monte

This month we arrived ready and excited to rush over to this month's hosts for TBDT, El Monte! When we arrived we were greeted with joyous smiles. Anh Thuan gave an inspiring speech about our past "Feed the Homeless" event in order to give a perspective about our experiences of that special event and to encourage many other doans to join us next time to spread more love to the less fortunate. Afterwards, we prayed the Rosary and went into activities!

Anh Martin led the games such as "Monkey in the Middle 2.0" We enjoyed ourselves as we spread out into a circle and passed around multiple balls without dropping it hastily without having to switch out with the "monkeys" in the middle. After a snack break, we split off into groups and introduced ourselves to other TNF members to create new friendships and be ready for some cool team games.
We were faced with the challenge of flipping over a towel while each group stands on the towel without stepping on the outside. This was difficult, but was nonetheless extremely fun. After countless activities, we finally relaxed with some good food. El Monte served amazing food along with thai tea boba which was definitely much needed after a great time of games.

Big thanks for Doan El Monte for having us and we hope you all enjoyed yourselves and made some awesome friendships within our TNF family. Until the next TBDT!

Spread some El Monte love by watching our vlog!

Feed The Homeless

Feed the Homeless is a day that provides our TNF members an opportunity to give back to those in need and spread God's love to the less fortunate. This year we plan to do much more Feed the Homeless events in order for us to visit the less fortunate at Skid Row. In preparation to visiting the homeless, all nganh help pack 250-300 lunches of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, cookies, and water. We package all these goodies in beautifully decorated brown paper bags with inspiring words to bring hope and love to whoever receives these gifts.

On April 18th, all ngành organized in assembly lines to efficiently pack lunches. Ngành Au decorated paper bags, nganh Thieu prepared peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and nghia were leaders of each table to carry the flow of the assembly line to run smoothly. As we prepared these lunches, we kept in mind the amount of people who were going to be touched by God's love through our packed lunches. With hard work and great enthusiasm to give back, we are serving not only the less fortunate but we are serving God.

The next morning on April 19th we arrived early in the morning and met with Deacon Long and arrived at Skid Row to begin reaching out to those in need of lunches. As we walked around we observed around us the everyday lives the homeless go through everyday. We humbled ourselves and began to find great gratitude in our hearts that we are fortunate to be live under a roof and have the basic necessities we usually take for granted. We thank all you guys who took your time to come out and contribute to the community as God's image to the less fortunate. We hope you all continue to remember the blessings God has given us and to pray for those who are in need.

TBDT At Claremont

On March 4th, TNF Torrance arrived at Claremont ready and pumped to collect more stickers for our "Passports to God" and to unite with the rest of our TNF family. After added another star to our passports, we prayed the Rosary with the Sorrowful mystery in spirit of Easter season. We prayed and looked back on the stages of Jesus' hardships and to dedicate ourselves to Mother Mary as well for the amount of suffering she went through seeing her only son die on the cross.

After the Rosary we began fun activities and some of which were Easter themed!  We organized ourselves into teams and began our first game of "Stations of the Cross." In this fun activity, each of us had to run to a number corresponding to the one of the stages of Jesus' journey of carrying the cross. Afterwards, we began a Easter themed crossword puzzle. We leaped onto each other's back "piggyback" style to rush over and find the colored eggs corresponding to the answers. The first team to collect all the correct eggs won. Once we did that, we went back into the room to play more games. There were various activities that were so fun and we hope you all enjoyed yourselves as well. Thank so much to Doan Claremont for having us and we will see you all very soon at our next TBDT!

Torrance Gets Crafty

Today all ngành enjoyed a relaxing day off from học hỏi to sit back with arts and crafts! This day was also special because our older TNF members celebrated Palm Sunday of the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem and the Jesus' washing of the feet with his fellow disciples.

On this exciting day, all ngành had the luxury of choosing between either origami, friendship bracelets, or coloring pages workshops. While everyone was creating their own masterpieces, we also played a special TNF slideshow to look back on all our past memories we have shared together over the years. This was a wonderful experience to give all of our TNF members a day to sit back and get cracking with crafts and spend a good time in each other's company.

At the end of the day, Lop Thank Kinh 2 celebrated Jesus' washing of the feet. Chi Brenda guided us as we washed each others feet to act as one of Jesus' disciples to humble ourselves and be the person to choose to wash another person's feet and as well accept the washing of our own feet. God calls out to us everyday to accept to become one of his servants to serve those everyone around us and to sacrifice and spread love to everyone around us as Jesus did when he died on the cross for us. We hope you all found this experience eye opening and to encourage you to continue to humble ourselves to serve those around us as Jesus did.

Enjoy this crafty day with us by checking out our vlog below!
