Special Day of Học Hỏi & Đoàn Games (3/14/15)

On March 14th we had a special day filled with two hours of học hỏi and đoàn games! Today we also had no class in which all ngành had the opportunity to study hard and as well play hard.

For two hours all three ngành reviewed over the material they have been learning since the beginning of the school year in preparation for tro chơi lớn upcoming this Saturday. In one of the stations for tro chơi lớn, we will be having a jeopardy game in which all ngành will be tested for their knowledge from the past several months. After reviewing, we all had a exciting time of free play and relaxation before preparing for lunch. After eating delicious ham sandwiches, all ngành
had the option to choose between playing either dodge ball, kickball, or free play.

This day was very well spent in which everyone had the opportunity to play freely after studying rigorously. We would like to give a huge thumbs up to all of our members who continue to keep to learning and putting in the effort to learn about our Lady of Fatima and the importance behind of Thiếu Nhi Fatima. Keep up the good work everyone!

Tết Văn Nghệ (2/28/15)

Hello everyone! We hope you all are relaxing and enjoying your weekend now that TNF has officially concluded our practices and preparation for Tết this year.

On March 28th, TNF and the rest of our Vietnamese church community held our annual Tết Văn Nghệ filled with amazing performances. TNF performed in Quốc Ca, Múa Lân, Ấu dance and the "Colors of the Rainbow" Fashion Show with Chị Pauline and Anh Thuận as MC's. Chị Britnee also sang beautifully to "Star Spangled Banner" to open the show. At the end of the night many took photos with one another in celebration of all our hard work being paid off. These past weeks created bigger opportunities for one another to bond and become even more of a stronger family. We hope you all enjoyed yourselves and found this night very rewarding. Great job to everyone who performed at our Tết Văn Nghệ! Till next year!

TNF had a day off from sinh hoat and class in order for our members to spend the weekend to relax with their families during this special holiday weekend. Our Tết Văn Nghệ performers on the other hand utilized that day to practice for the "Colors of the Rainbow" Fashion Show, Ấu dance, and Múa Lân. We are performing next week on February 28th, so be sure to come by after 8 p.m. mass to see what is in store from our TNF family.

Valentine's Day with TNF (2/14/15)

Valentine's day this year fell on a Saturday which gave us the opportunity to spend time with one another sharing the great amount of love we have for TNF.

In the Valentine's day spirit, HT's and Nghĩa sold beautifully decorated red roses in fundraising money for TNF after mass. Although decorating and wrapping one hundred roses was rigorous job, we worked diligently in hopes of bringing great love and happiness for people to surprise their loved ones! We share great appreciation for everyone who supported by buying roses and we hope you all had a beautiful Valentine's day.

RECAP: Preparing for Tết Văn Nghệ! (1/24/15)

This previous Saturday, dedicated TNF members arrived at church a little earlier than
usual to practice for Tết Văn Nghệ.

The term Tết Nguyên Đán (abbreviated Tết) means Lunar New Year. The new year is an important time for Vietnamese people all over the world to start the new year right by cleaning their homes, ridding bad feelings, and celebrate the coming of spring. A very important factor is family: a common tradition is to visit one another's homes and bring gifts as a symbol of wishing good fortune to one another. Another tradition is lì xì (or mừng tuổi), which is lucky money (you've probably seen the bright red envelopes!). Children first give their elders a traditional Tết greeting and receive lì xì. Tết is one of the biggest celebrations in Vietnamese culture and it is no different
here for TNF Torrance. Every year in January, we begin preparations for Tết Văn Nghệ, which
is a variety show sponsored by our Vietnamese Catholic community full of dancing, singing, and
other acts. TNF usually puts on about 3 performances!

At 10:00 am, Huynh Trưởng  and Nghĩa began their first practice for the
"Colors of the Rainbow" Fashion Show. Members are paired up and assigned to
a color of the rainbow for a total of 13 couples. On the day of the show, they will be able to
flaunt their creative poses and stylish apparel: ladies will be wearing the traditional
Vietnamese Áo dài and gentlemen will get "suited up" to escort their partners
as they strut down the runway onstage.

By the time it was 11:30 am, the excited Ấu dancers, who will also be performing,
came rushing through the gates! This group consists of 16 girls and boys, all looking forward to
this wonderful celebration. For this year's theme, Ch Diana decided to take a new direction:
instead of traditional Vietnamese costumes, the performers will be sporting a more edgier army
look as they dance to "Anh Là Lính Đa Tình" by Trish Thùy Trang.

Lastly, Múa Lân dancers arrived to practice by 12 pm, bringing out all the festively colored lion
heads of the past years, as well as new ones that were generously donated to TNF. This year,
the Múa Lân team will be having familiar faces who have previously participated, however, it is also
exciting to announce that more of ngành Thiếu have joined this year, including teams of girls
who will be performing with their own lion heads!

While every one has been working hard practicing in the previous weeks, and will continue
to practice hard in the upcoming weeks, we are all excited to see what TNF has in store for
Tết Văn Nghệ this year! We hope that you are anticipating the day of the performance as
much as we are!

Tết Văn Nghệ will be on February 28 after mass. To see more of how we are preparing for
show day, please check out this video created by Ch Diana!

Before sinh hoạt, we held our first dance practice with ngành Ấu. Nghĩa members and Huynh Trưởng worked as a team weeks prior to create special choreography for our upcoming dancers. Múa Lân practice was a great turnout of kids ranging from Thiếu and Nghĩa. Along with great age variety, we have girls performing alongside our boys this year.We hope you all enjoyed your weekend and look forward to seeing you next Saturday.
