Friendly Reminder

We would like to remind you that next Saturday (3/19) is our birthday! There will be no Viet Ngu/Giao Ly classes, but we WILL be having Sinh Hoat from 2pm until Mass. We have a lot of fun activities planned, so please have your children come!

The following Saturday (3/26), we will not have Sinh Hoat or Classes because of Easter.

Chuc Mung Nam Moi!

Happy Lunar New Year everyone! A lot has happened over the past couple weeks in preparation for Tet. Keep on reading to check out how this special day went down.

On February 14th, TNF spent the day celebrating both Valentine's Day and Lunar New Year. In the morning all Van nghe dance groups practiced hard whether it came to Mua Lan, Thieu/Nghia, and Nganh Au. While everyone was practicing, we all rooted each other on to get hyped for the big night. After some delicious tuna sandwiches and cookies, our Van nghe performers got ready to get into sinh hoat. Watching everyone dedicating every minute of practice to perfect their performances made my day. The amount of  devotion and hard work put into each performance proves how our TNF family is in it to win it!

During sinh hoat both nganh Au and nganh Thieu spent time making Valentine's cards for their loved ones. Many surprised each other with multiple cards with cheesy love puns. The amount of love and adoration in the air truly showed how loving TNF Torrance is. We surely are a tight knit family!

Later that night our groups looked absolutely stunning in their costumes. For instance, nganh Thieu were adorably dressed in yellow and pink ao ba ba with braids to match to top of their Vietnamese traditional look. When it came to nganh Au were dressed in colorful ao dai's. With our performers looking more than perfect, the crowd were pumped to see our Tet performers. After a fun time watching Mua Lan, nganh Au finally got to debit their cool dance. Our little dancers looked adorable dancing to the song "Tet Den Roi." Afterwards nganh Thieu came out working their glamorous fans to the song "Xuan Que Ta."  In all all of our performers did an amazing job and working the crowd on stage.

Season's Greetings from Thieu & Nghia!

On December 21st, Thieu and Nghia had an amazing Christmas party! We had the best time ever eating delicious food, building gingerbread houses, and playing super fun Christmas games. Thank you to all who came to the Christmas party, we wouldn't have had as much fun as we did if it wasn't for you guys!

When we first arrived, we were greeted by lovely table decorations and a side table of scrumptious L&L food, chips, and drinks! While we were all sitting down and eating, we were warmly comforted by Christmas classic music, especially from Michael Buble! 

After enjoying some delicious food, it was time to get the creative juices flowing by decorating gingerbread houses! Everyone paired up and made their own small gingerbread cottage adorably decorated with candy and frosting. After everyone finished up we all gathered at the table and admired our TNF Christmas village!

After gingerbread houses we enjoyed multiple Christmas games such as guessing carols, spinning till we got dizzy with a Christmas ornament conveyor belts around our waists, or even sliding cookies down from our foreheads to our mouths! The auditorium was filled with intense laughter and loud singing that truly made our party so much more livelier. This was truly special because we were able to join together as a family whether we were Thieu or Nghia. Age truly does not matter when it comes to having fun and sharing each others company in the Christmas spirit. Thank you everyone who helped make this Monday unforgettable and this was surely the first time we have had a Monday we actually looked forward to! All this love and laughter made us truly ready for the coming of Jesus! See you all at the Christmas Eve mass where our children will be participating in the Christmas play.

Santa's Workshop 2015

Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas from TNF Torrance! Santa's workshop was super busy with all our elves playing games and winning tons of candy. Thanks to our Nghia for making this past Saturday an amazing experience for all of our kids.

We had multiple Christmas themed booths that Nghia have been preparing weeks beforehand, working in teams to create the perfect booth for our TNF kids. On Saturday, December 19th 2015 our Nghia prepared booths in anticipation for the rush of kids running into the hall! We had booths from guessing special items in Christmas stockings to booths where we had to blow through a straw in a Christmas themed obstacle course! Each player received a number of tickets in order to turn in to play a game! We also provided a crafty booth for children who wanted to relax and explore their creative side by decorating ornaments our booth called "Crafts at the North Pole."

While everyone was having the time of their lives, many children ran out of tickets. Chi Britnee came to the rescue and provided more tickets with first answering TNF questions about Mary and the three children. After a good run of playing games we all came out for lunch and went to class where many enjoyed Christmas parties with their teachers and classmates.

Thank you to all who came out this past Saturday and everyone who contributed to a great "Christmas-y" Saturday for out TNF kids! I could see the smiles from everyone and the warmth of love in the air with everyone laughing and scoring some candy with all our Christmas booths. This Saturday seemed especially rewarding to everyone who ran the booths who were able to not only reward candy to children,  but reward a smile to all our kids. This Saturday was not only fun and games, but a time to express our love each other in preparation for the coming of Jesus. Being in a positive mindset will set our hearts ready to have the true Christmas spirit!

Khoa Tinh Huan 2015

Welcome back everyone! For those of you who didn't know, this past weekend Nghia and HT's attended Khoa Tinh Huan. This is a special spiritual retreat for our older TNF members to be recharged spiritually and for some to move onto a new spiritual chapter as Du Truong and Huynh Truong. Thank you to all who answered God's calling by coming this past weekend to learn more about what we stand for as witnesses of Fatima. And we can't forget all of those who came out to support all of us and prepared such delicious meals that made this weekend even more special!

Friday afternoon everyone came out packed and ready to head out to the road for Khoa Tinh Huan! After we prepared our rooms, we were all pleasantly surprised by the beautiful bathrooms and warm welcome from Cha! After we settled in, we started off the retreat to a welcoming slideshow, ice breakers to reunite with our other TNF friends, and got into inspiring lecture with Chi Brenda and Anh Thuan to further explore what exactly TNF means to each of us.

Saturday surely a jam packed day! After breakfast and fun dance exercises with Anh Long, we dove into many inspiring lectures such as understanding more about the beauty and honor of praying the Rosary or learning more about Mary our mother.Near the end of the night we all dressed up for our night formal while enjoying  hilarious skits to our theme "witnesses of Fatima". Each group portrayed their interpretations of why it is important to be a witness of Fatima. Whether it was Yu-Gi-Oh references or heart warming acting, we all enjoyed laughing till our stomachs hurt and smiling till our cheeks were sore. We ended the night with Doan reflections where we had special time to get personal,express our feelings with one another of our spiritual journeys, and announcing our new DT's and HT's. This special night being able to sit all together as Torrance felt absolutely amazing and revitalized each and every one of us to realize the amount of love that is in Doan Torrance.

Sadly the last day of KTH crept on us fast, but Sunday was a unforgettable day. The morning kicked off with a dance exercise to "Hotline Bling" with Anh Thuan and Chi Diana after Dang Ngay to get out blood flowing for the rest of the day. After that, each of us had a chance to get more personal with each other and especially our HT's to understand the purpose, intention, and calling to becoming a youth leader. With our Q&A panel, Nghia had the opportunity to express their concerns and curiosity to the path of becoming a future HT. We ended the day with a special mass to welcome our new Huynh Truongs. Saying our goodbyes to our other TNF friends made us even more excited to reach the next time we would be able to to see them again.

This weekend will be something we will all never forget. We have gained so much knowledge about being a witness of Fatima and most importantly learned more about ourselves and our commitment to devoting our time and love to TNF. Mother Mary of God please look over us and guide us closer to God and please guide our new youth leaders.
