We began with TBDT in the early morning and were delighted to see many more faces from other Doans. After collecting our star stickers for our "Passports to God," we had mass with Cha Long. After mass we prayed the Rosary and this time we dedicated our meditation after to free our minds and think recollect and unplug from our busy past week. We began games such as the ultimate tournament of "rock, paper, scissors" and a fun game of poison ball. Before lunch, we sat around one another and passed around a beach ball covered in multiple questions such as "to get to know each other better. Through this game we were able to learn more about each others interests and become a lot closer. After lunch, we gave our special goodbyes and began to set up our booths for tro choi lon.
This special theme if tro choi lon was in spirit of the upcoming summer break where we had booths led by HT's and Nghia as our end of the year "Summer festival." Our booths were adorned with colorful signs as many children had the luxury to spend time within each of these booths. For the "Trivia Treats" booth our members had to answer trivia question to test their knowledge they learned throughout the year in order to win a snow cone or cotton candy! In the booth "What's in season?" players had to guess what flavor a certain juice was in order to gain the prize of candy. The next booth tested the player's memorization skills where in "Summer memories," children had to try to memorize a photo for a short amount of time before drawing out the most they could remember. "Lets get crafty" booth was a fun way in order for members to create leis out of boba straws, string, and colorful flower paper. "The ping to my pong" was an intense booth in order for players to shoot water through water guns to knock off ping pong balls off of water bottles. Last, but not the least in our "Hula Hoop contest" players had to compete to hula hoop the longest to win candy.
After a long day of joyous fun, we ended the night with a grand performances after mass. We performed "Dancing through the Decades" where we danced in the theme of era between 1900's and till present day. Our dancers looked absolutely wonderful dressed in their costumes to match the era and watching across the sea of smiles, truly showed how much of a joy it is to dance with one another. Thank you all who came out to devote your time to a memorable day.
